Geography clicked for me when I realised it wasn’t really about memorising endless case studies. That’s something I try to get across in my A-Level lessons too. I’ve tutored for five years and usually work with students on applying examples properly, rather than dropping facts into an answer because they’ve learnt them. I’m a bit of a weather nerd, so atmospheric processes are always fun to teach.

I’ve spent six years teaching A-Level Geography and have also supported students individually online alongside my school teaching. My specialist area is human geography, particularly urban change, development and global systems. I tend to use short exam questions throughout lessons rather than leaving practice until the end of a topic. It gives me a much clearer idea of what a student understands and what still needs attention.

My background is in environmental geography, so I’m happiest teaching topics such as ecosystems, water cycles and climate. I started tutoring A-Level Geography while completing postgraduate study and have continued for the past seven years. I’m quite visual in the way I teach and often sketch processes or annotate diagrams live. For longer answers, we plan first and then look at how each paragraph earns its place.
